You really can't beat this for the price. It's not a piece of rubber, like some of the other deskpads I was considering, but it's not real leather either. However, it looks nice, feels nice, and works like a charm. Writing on it is excellent. The picture might throw you off a little because it's not as square. It's more rectangular when it arrived. Which worked out better for my desk. The bottom side has a type of felt material (to protect your desk from scratches) and the top is synthetic leather. It's big enough to fit my keyboard and mouse together, so I no longer need a mouse pad (just one big pad!).There is a row of stitching on the top (the long 36inch side). It's black thread, on black leather, so it looks clean and professional, and extenuates the leather look of the pad. My only gripe, I wish the stitching was around all 4 sides! Also, this store had a small delay telling me when my item was going to be shipped. I sent a message to the seller, asking when to expect my product shipped, and they responded within an hour. My product had already been shipped, and they promptly updated my amazon account with a tracking number. Excellent service.I previously used the Artistic Rhinolin II Ultra-Smooth Writing Pad Desk Mat with Microban for desk top and mouse use. I used them for several years and really liked them. When they wore out I bought replacements (same product) in 2014 and the new versions were very disappointing - edge curl, slipping on the desk surface. They were so bad & irritating that I tossed them.I bought this one a few months ago and it's been good. The edges are a little sharp, but a few strokes with an emory board helps reduce the edge . I would purchase this one again.I very rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled. I bought this desk pad because it was advertised as leather and was a reasonable price. Unfortunately, this appears to be a case where you get what you pay for. If it is really leather, it is clearly the lowest grade of leather that it is possible to create. To all human senses, you would be better off with a plastic "leatherette" pad. This one feels like cheap vinyl, smells chemical, is more shiny than matte, and came with a mark from the packaging indented into the left edge (we'll see if that goes away after removing the pressure from the package). Two stars because it is felt backed, arrived promptly, and I don't have chemical analysis equipment to determine if it was ever part of a cow. Ugly, shiny, smelly, and certainly not supple.I bought this desk pad to save wear on my hand finished oak desktop. I wanted something basic and functional which also looked good. I got the "basic and functional" parts just fine. The "looked good" is variable. The desk pad curls its edges up whenever the weather changes in humidity. Thus it can look just fine to looking like crap within the span of a few hours.I would not recommend this product and will certainly not buy another like it for myself. As I knew that this is not real leather since this is so cheap compare other real one. If you do not care this is leather or not, you may order one. I like the price and size so I am going to keep it.The product arrived in time. The purpose was to protect the new conference room table we had purchased for our new office. They are the appropriate size that we needed. But material is very light and a few arrived with warping and dents. One actually had peels all around that it look shredded. We returned that one. But now I'm considering returning all of them since the peels and the warped look makes it look very flimsy.Like all Amazon products U have bought it arrived promptly. It is the first item I have been really unhappy with. The pad is flimsy and once on my desk the corners and edges of the pad are rolling up. I tried using weighted objects but that did not help.I am, so far, happy about this desk pad which I purchased for a little over thirty bucks with free shipping. For this price, I would buy it again, for the current advertised price of forty plus shipping, I would not!
